James A. Peterman, born in Milford, Delaware on May 17, 1928, ordained a priest in May, 1955, for the Wilmington Diocese; spent seven years as parish priest; then served ten years on active duty as US Army Catholic chaplain, with three tours in Southeast Asia (Vietnam), achieving the rank of Lt Colonel in six years.
Awarded the Legion of Merit and many other decorations including the Master Parachutist badge. His decision to marry led to his discharge from the Army as a Catholic chaplain.
In 1979,  he joined the US Army Reserves as a Staff Sergeant (E-6). Because of his MBA degree given the slot of Computer Programmer.
After a promotion in the enlisted ranks he retired from the Army as LTC in May, 1988.
Moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in July, 1975
Employed by Rinker Materials Corp and later as town administrator of South Palm Beach.
Moved to Viera, Florida in July, 1995 where he became involved as volunteer chaplain in several retired military organizations.
